Rosemary is one of the original staff members of Surgi-Care.  She makes her home with Bill, her husband of 40+ years.  They have three daughters who have given them 8 grandchildren.  Rosemary owns two Tennessee Walkers, Sam and Nick and two dogs, Beans and Tater.  Rosemary and Bill have a mountain retreat in Georgia where they spend as much time as they can.

Lena moved to Tampa nearly 10 years ago from the Chicago area. She has a son, Tyler, who she enjoys spending time with at all of the theme parks that Florida has to offer. You can often find her on family bike rides or playing sports such as volleyball and softball. Lena is also the loving owner of 1 dog, 2 cats and many other exotic animals.

Jason received B.S. in Animal Science from University of Florida in May 2008. He also received his M.S. in Animal Science from Clemson University in May 2010 with a concentration in equine reproductive and exercise physiology. He enjoys riding reiners, hunting, and fishing during his free time. He hopes to become a large animal veterinarian.

Joined Surgi-Care March of 2006.

April enjoys many hobbies such as horseback riding, boating, relaxing on Florida beaches and shopping.  She owns numerous dogs, cats, horses, goats and a cow.  April and her husband Archie were married in the Spring of 2009 and honeymooned in Hawaii.


Sarah Johnson

Sarah resides in Lakeland, FL. She is currently a student in the online Veterinary Technician Program at St Petersburg College with a graduation date of December 2010. Following her graduation from the program she plans to sit the Veterinary Technician National Exam to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. Sarah has a specialized interest in animal behaviors, particularly that of equines and canines. In her spare time she can be found training her dog Bailey for Obedience, Rally, and Agility, horseback riding, playing soccer, or spending time with friends and family. Sarah is the proud owner of Bailey a white Miniature Schnauzer and Gooey Louie the Appaloosa.


Kelly King

Kelly moved to Florida from Georgia in 2003. Kelly’s outside interests include graphic design and teaching horseback riding lessons. Kelly is the proud owner of one horse, six cats, a bird and a hamster!


Cheri Maldonado

Cheri relocated to Florida from Ohio in 2004. She is the mother of two beautiful daughters, Amanda and Erika. Her and her family own many rescue animals with the pride and joys being their two horses and a pony. Cheri works at Surgi-Care part time and has a full time career working with Physically Impaired children. She is currently in school to become a special needs teacher and in her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and animals.


Sam Mellot

Samantha has always loved animals. She comes from St. Cloud, FL where she volunteered with a riding and boarding stable, a sheep farm and even worked at Sea World in the education department. She is currently going to the University of South Florida pursuing a degree in Biology. She is applying to Vet School this summer in the hopes enrolling in the fall of 2011. Sam's goal is to become a large animal vet.


Jen Reda

Joined Surgi-Care in April of 2010.

Jen is a senior at USF and will graduate with her B.S. in Biomedical Sciences in the Fall of 2010 with plans to begin vet school in 2011. Until then she is learning as much as she can about large animal medicine at Surgi-Care. Jen owns one horse and two dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys any outdoor sports, beach volleyball, skydiving, working out, and traveling.

Trinity was born and raised in Florida and has been around horses her entire life. Her plan is to go to school to become a veterinarian or game warden. Outside of work she likes to play football, ride horses, and go to the beach. She is the loving owner of one dog and 4 rabbits.

Joined Surgi-Care in May 2010

Thea has just recently relocated to Brandon from Ft. Lauderdale, where she had lived for the majority of her life. Prior to her move she was a technician for an Equine Internal Medicine Specialist for five years along with operating a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber for horses for two years. In her off time she enjoys spending time with her two horses, Mimi and Elmo. She plans on continuing her education towards her dream of become an Equine Veterinarian.

Dr. Kane is a 1984 honor graduate from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. He was a co-founder of Surgi-Care Center for Horses. Dr. Kane sold his portion of the practice to Dr. Kuebelbeck in March of 2009. Dr. Kane is the sole owner of Care Animal Hospital, a mixed animal practice. Dr. Kane has served as president of the Hillsborough County Veterinary Medical Society and as chairman of the Animal Advisory committee. He has been elected the Business Leader of the Year by the Brandon Chamber of Commerce and the Veterinarian of the Year by the Hillsborough County Veterinary Medical Society. Dr. Kane is currently serving his 15th year as a board member of the University of Florida Alumni council.
